Biography

Born: 5/27/1957 Ireland   Kate Shannon was born in 1957 in Birmingham and studied for a BA in Graphic Design at Birmingham Polytechnic (now rather grandly called The University of Central England. Since 1980, she has freelanced as a childrens’ book illustrator, working from various tiny apartments. Kate has illustrated story books, joke books, early readers, and greetings cards . (Clients include Piccolo, Corgi, Gill Macmillan, Collins, BBC Worldwide, ladybird, etc.) Kate likes to travel and has twice ambled around Europe and north Africa with Gus, a 1975 VW camper,(its still going),which doubles as a mobile studio and greenhouse. Kate has spent some time in Huntsville, Alabama. Zurich, Helsinki, Frankfurt, and Budapest. She now has a permanent base is now in West Cork, Ireland, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. In-between illustrating, She spends her time growing vegetables, and chasing sheep, chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs out of the vegetable patch.
